This was another project that we were blessed to work on alongside Kortney Wilson and Kenny Brain from Making It Home. This log cabin, located on 10 acres in Joelton, TN, was fully remodeled, both inside and out. We transformed the exterior by replacing the roof, gutters and cedar trim as well as by giving it a paint job and upgrading the windows. Inside, we reinforced the floors throughout, created additional new windows, added support for the improved open floor plan (which now features a brand-new kitchen with a large center island) and built a new nursery, laundry room and powder room. The master suite and family room were remodeled as well. The pièce de résistance was the basement door. We replaced the basic door with a shelving unit that doubled as a hidden Murphy door. Now when you enter the home, you see beautiful shelving instead of an ugly door to the basement. And with just a slight touch–voila!–the shelf becomes a door!
