Creating Kitchens You’ll Love: A Trend Report

Are you in the dreaming phase of a kitchen upgrade? We love helping homeowners create kitchens they love, so we thought it would be fun to share some of the kitchen remodeling trends. Let us walk you through some of the trends. Who knows? Maybe you will see some kitchen remodel ideas that inspire you!

Colorful Kitchen Islands

All-white kitchens are timeless; however, we have been seeing a huge increase in lower cabinets and kitchen islands in a range of colors (however the most common colors for islands being in the blue and green families). One of the best things about this trend for the DIY-er is that if you are already in love with your all-white kitchen but are itching for a change, you can paint your island base!

Brights Mixed With Wood

As we discussed above, colored kitchen cabinets are trending. Along with the trend of the all-white kitchen paired with a colorful kitchen island, we are also seeing bright-colored cabinetry mixed with woods.

Hardware is becoming an important part of the overall kitchen design. Silver hardware has reigned supreme for quite some time; however, we’ve been seeing a huge shift to brass and gold cabinet hardware. We are also seeing gold and brass faucets and lighting fixtures coming into play as well!

Lower Kitchen Drawers

Another big trend is lower drawers for storage rather than cabinets. Lower kitchen drawers are amazing for storage because they glide open and make finding items stored in the back easier. No more crouching down and pulling out the flashlight to find the pot or pan you need!

Modern Shaker Cabinets

According to Sarah Snouffer from Third Street Architecture, “A thinner style on cabinet doors adds depth and character without the heaviness of the traditional shaker door. It also adds detail to the universal and sometimes bland slab door.” We agree!
